Yamaha Launches R15 Version 4 & R15M in India

Yamaha has launched the all-new R15 Version 4 and R15M in the Indian market. The Yamaha R15 Version 4 will eventually replace the popular Yamaha R15 V3, and Yamaha positions the R15M as the sportier iteration of Version 4. Both motorcycles come with a new design theme that draws inspiration from the Yamaha R7 super sport bike. But, the motorcycles come with the Japanese brand’s proven 155cc engine platform and its renowned Deltabox chassis.

Yamaha R15 Version 4 & R15M – Price and Colors

Yamaha is offering the R15 Version 4 with a starting price tag of INR 167,800 ex-showroom. The brand offers the Metallic Red color as the entry-level variant. The R15 Version 4 also comes with a Dark Knight and Racing Blue color option, at the price of INR 168,800 ex-showroom and INR 172,800 ex-showroom, respectively. The top-spec R15M comes with a price tag of INR 177,800 ex-showroom. Yamaha has also introduced the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP edition R15 Version 4, which comes with a price tag of INR 179,800 ex-showroom. It is important to note that the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP edition will be sold in limited numbers.

Yamaha R15 Version 4 & R15M – Design

The Yamaha R15 Version 4 draws inspiration from the Yamaha R7, launched recently in the international market. The motorcycle comes with a Class D bi-LED monocular headlamp that sits in the front ram-air-like recess. The motorcycle also features a bubble-style racing windscreen and L-shaped LED DRLs that flank the headlamp. Yamaha boasts that the new design is superior in terms of aerodynamic efficiency. The new R15 Version 4 comes with an aerodynamic drag (CdA) of just 0.293. In comparison with the R15 Version 3, the new bike also comes with a revised fuel tank and side panels. However, the tail section appears similar to the R15 V3.

Yamaha R15 Version 4 & R15M – Features

The Yamaha R15 Version 4 comes with features such as revised racing ergonomics and riding modes – Track and Street. The bike also comes with a quickshifter as well as Traction Control. The motorcycle also gets a full-digital dashboard with Yamaha Y-Connect. The Y-Connect features allow the rider to synchronize their smartphone with the instruments cluster to display phone notifications on the dashboard. The R15M also comes with exclusive features such as Yamaha YZF-R1M inspired colors and graphics, along with a three-dimensional emblem on the tank. The R15M also comes with carbon-like seat cover material with an embroidered logo, blue anodized fork caps and gold finish on the disc brake calipers.

Yamaha R15 Version 4 & R15M – Technical Specifications

Powering the Yamaha R15 Version 4 and R15M is the same BS6 compliant 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. The venerable engine comes with electronic fuel injection and VVA (Variable Valve Actuation). The motor produces 18.4 PS of power and 14.2 Nm of torque paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The motorcycle also comes with a new 37mm upside-down front suspension unit and a link-type rear monoshock. Braking duties are performed by 282mm front and 220mm rear disc brakes with hydraulic calipers equipped with a dual-channel ABS for safety.
