However, the adventure, touring and modern-classic segments are gaining quite a bit of popularity. Benelli TRK 251 – Adventure Tourer
Benelli is planning to launch the brand entry-level adventure touring motorcycle in India, dubbed Benelli TRK 251. The new adventure motorcycle draws inspiration from the larger TRK 502/502X sibling. The motorcycle comes with an upright fascia featuring a signature beak design, split headlamps, chiselled fuel tank and panels, ergonomic seats and luggage mounts. Powering the Benelli TRK 251 is a 249cc single-cylinder four-stroke four-valve DOHC motor that produces 25.5 PS of power and 21.1 Nm of torque.
Benelli has already started accepting pre-launch bookings in the Indian market at the price of INR 6,000. The quarter-litre motorcycle is likely to come with a price tag of around INR 2.5 lakh ex-showroom.
Honda CB300R – Neo-Retro Sports Cafe
Honda has announced that the brand will soon be launching back the Neo Sports Racer motorcycle – the Honda CB300R in the Indian market. The Honda CB300R was offered in the Indian market pre-BS6 era. But the brand had discontinued the motorcycle when the country switched to the tighter emission norms. The CB300R features a rounded LED headlamp elongated fuel tank, a short tail section and an upswept exhaust. Powering the CB300R is a 286cc DOHC 4-valve liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine. The engine produces 31.1 PS of power and 27.45 Nm of torque while weighing only 146 kgs at the kerb.
Honda plans to introduce the CB300R BS6 in January 2022, with a price tag of around INR 2.50 lakh ex-showroom. The bookings for the motorcycle will also open when the price is announced. Recently, Honda showcased the CB300R BS6 at the India Bike Week 2021 in Aamby Valley Lonavala.
Yezdi Roadking – Scrambler/Adventure Motorcycle
Defunct brand Yezdi Motorcycle is planning to make a comeback in the Indian market soon. The brand is likely to launch two products in the Indian market. The first is likely to be an adventure motorcycle which Yezdi could name ‘Roadking.’ The Yezdi Roadking will directly compete with the Royal Enfield Himalayan. The brand is also likely to introduce a new scrambler style motorcycle in the Indian market. Sources have also suggested that the brand will bring a third cruiser motorcycle in the future.
Details of the bikes and the launch timeline are limited, but speculation is that the company will borrow the engines from Jawa Motorcycles as both brands are under the same parent company Classic Legends. The Yezdi Roadking is likely to come with a price tag of around INR 2.50 lakh ex-showroom.
BSA Motorcycles Gold Star – Modern-Classic Cruiser
Mahindra-backed Classic Legends is not just behind resurrecting Jawa and Yezdi motorcycle brands. But the company also resurrected the long-defunct BSA Motorcycle brand. BSA Motorcycle has introduced its first product the Gold Star in the international market. Powering the Gold Star is a 652cc single-cylinder, four-valve DOHC engine that produces 45 Bhp of power and 55 Nm of torque. The brand developed the engine in partnership with the Technical University of Graz and meets all the emission requirements without compromising on character.
BSA Motorcycle is currently gearing up to launch the Gold Star in the UK. The brand is likely to introduce the motorcycle to the Indian market later in 2022. BSA is likely to put a price tag of INR 3.50 lakh ex-showroom on the Gold Star. BSA will produce the Gold Star in the Indian market keeping prices in check.
CFMoto 650 GT – Grand Touring Motorcycle
CFMoto recently unveiled the 650 GT in the international market. The updated motorcycle is also likely to come to Indian soon. The brand offers an aerodynamic front fascia with a tall touring windscreen and signature CFMoto headlamps and DRLs. The motorcycle also comes with a full fairing design, ergonomic seating and handlebars. CFMoto also provides luggage mounting points with the Grand Touring motorcycle. Powering the CFMoto 650GT is a 649.3cc parallel-twin-cylinder engine that produces 55.6 Hp of power and 54.4 Nm of torque. The bike comes with road-optimised suspension and tyres.
CFMoto already retails the 650GT in the Indian market. The brand is likely to introduce the updated model in 2022 with a price tag around the INR 6 lakh mark.
Triumph Tiger Sport 660 – Adventure Sports Tourer
In the recent past, Triumph introduced the Tiger Sport 660 which is based on the highly successful Trident 660 platform. The adventure sports tourer features a sporty front fascia with sleek split headlamps and a tall touring visor. The bike also comes with sporty yet comfortable ergonomics with an upright handlebar and mid-rear-set footpegs. Powering the Tiger Sport 660 is a liquid-cooled 660cc inline three-cylinder engine with a 240-degree firing order. The engine produces 81 PS of power and 64 Nm of torque making it the most powerful bike in the segment.
Triumph will soon announce the market price of the Tiger Sport 660 in India. Currently, enthusiasts can book the Tiger Sport 660 by putting down an amount of INR 50,000 at the nearest Triumph showroom. The Tiger Sport 660 is likely to come with a price tag of around INR 8 to 9 lakh ex-showroom.
