TVS Retails More Than 2.5 Lakh Two-Wheelers in December 2021

TVS Motor Company has revealed the brand’s sales report for December 2021. The two-wheeler manufacturer recorded sales of over 250,933 units for the given month. In the month of December, 2020 TVS sold 272,084 units. However, the sales are on the decline, and there are numerous reasons to assert the same. Thanks to COVID-19, the automotive industry has also seen a decline in sales. However, the current trend to opt for electric vehicles is also playing an important role, with customers making a shift away from traditional ICE vehicles.

TVS Sales Analysis

Two-Wheeler

TVS recorded a total sales of 235,392 units in December 2021. Meanwhile, for the same period last year, sales stood at 258,239 units. In the domestic market, the brand posted 146,763 units in sales which is down from 176,912 units in December 2020. But motorcycle share grew by 12 per cent, as the figure for December 2021 stood at 119,051 units. In December 2020, sales stood at 77,705 units.

International Business

TVS grew the export business by 10 per cent. In December 2021 the export figure was 103,420 units which are up from 94,269 units in December 2020. In the two-wheeler segment, TVS reported that the export figure for December 2020 stood at 81,327 units, against 88,629 units for December 2021, translating to a growth of 9 per cent.

Third Quarter Performance

In Q3 of FY 2020-21, TVS reported total sales of 8.3 lakh units in the two-wheeler segment. When compared to the third quarter of the previous year, the figure stood at 9.5 lakhs. The three-wheeler sales of the company also grew by almost 17 per cent. Rising from 0.38 lakh units in the third quarter of FY20 TVS managed 0.44 lakh units sales in FY21. TVS also posted a growth of 13 per cent in the export segment. In Q3 the brand registered 2.6 lakh units in FY20 to 2.9 lakh units compared to the third quarter of the current financial year.
