TVS Motor Company has rolled out 100,000 BMW Motorrad’s 310cc range of motorcycles from their state of the art production plant in Hosur. The brand also revealed that the production facility in Hosur manufactures around 10% of BMW Motorrad’s global volumes of bikes. BMW sells the G 310 R and G 310 GS bike across 120 countries in the global market. Back in 2013, BMW and TVS signed an agreement to produce sub-500cc bikes for the global market. Under the partnership, TVS-BMW developed the 310cc platform at the Hosur facility. Thus giving birth to three motorcycles – the BMW G 310 R, G 310 GS and the TVS Apache RR310.
BMW G 310 R and G 310 GS – Highlights
The BMW Motorrad G 310 R and G 310 GS come with the same engine platform but both offer completely different styles and riding dynamics. The G 310 R is a streetfighter, with sharp looks and contemporary styling. BMW offers the G 310 R in three colour options – Style Sport, Cosmic Black 2, Kyanite Blue Metallic. On the other hand, the G 310 GS comes with adventure styling, long-travel suspension and ergonomically optimised riding dynamics. The brand offers the adventure tourer with Style Rallye, Polar White, and Cosmic Black colour options. Both motorcycles also come with BMW LED headlamps, adjustable clutch and brake levers, electronic throttle and full digital instruments cluster.
Powering the BMW G 310 R and the G 310 GS is a 313cc reverse inclined single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. The engine produces 34 Hp of power and 28 Nm of torque. The engine features a 6-speed gearbox with a new self-reinforcing slipper/assist clutch for smoother gear shifts. BMW retails the G 310 R and the G 310 GS with a sticker price of INR 2.6 lakh and INR 3.0 lakh ex-showroom, respectively.
TVS Apache RR310
The third motorcycle that spawned from the TVS-BMW partnership is the Apache RR310. The motorcycle features a supersport design and TVS has tuned the dynamics of the machine to suit both the race track and the road. The Apache RR310 uses the same liquid-cooled 313cc reverse inclined single-cylinder engine producing 34 PS of power and 27.3 Nm of torque. The brand has also added an advanced electronics suite on the Apache RR310 tweaking engine performance. The Apache RR310 retails with a starting price tag of INR 2,59,990 ex-showroom.
