Ola has announced that the brand will be offering the Ola S1 model with the hardware from the Ola S1 Pro, the top-spec variant, for free. However, there is a catch, customers will need to pay an extra INR 30,000 to unlock all the features from the upgraded hardware. Furthermore, Ola has also reportedly put the production of the Ola Electric S1 scooter on hold. The Ola S1 scooter will resume production till late 2022. Furthermore, the brand will only be producing the S1 Pro variant. Ola Electric scooter has also notified its customers through e-mail communication that the Ola S1 Pro has seen a surge in demand and the brand will be producing the electric scooter before the entry-level model S1. Customers can also upgrade their electric scooter to the S1 Pro by paying an extra amount of INR 30,000 during the final payment window which opens on 21st January 2022.
Ola S1 To Get Ola S1 Pro Hardware
The CEO of Ola Electric Bhavish Aggarwal also revealed through the micro-blogging site Twitter, that the brand will upgrade all Ola Electric scooters to S1 Pro specifications. This leads us to believe that the Ola S1 will be equivalent to the S1 Pro. However, features such as the Hyper Mode will remain locked. Aggarwal also revealed that deliveries on the Ola S1 Pro will commence in January and February, however, no specific date was revealed.
Mixed Views Among Customers
While the Ola S1 will feature the upgraded hardware, some customers think that the brand is having a biased approach from the company. Many customers are having mixed views, as priority is being given to a particular variant over the other, revealed through Twitter. While the S1 Pro does offer several benefits over the S1, some customers think that the S1 is adequate for their everyday requirements and the need not pay the extra INR 30,000 amount. And the brand is forcing them to receive the deliveries early in the year.
