Every year on the 4th of March we raise awareness of safety among the commuters. We celebrate this day as National Safety Day. On this day, the National Safety Council of India was established. Without getting into the statistics of why this day formed let’s talk about safety measures. 

Road safety and traffic rules are vital for a driver. It is a renewal of the safety guidelines brought in the notice to the commoner to maintain it on the street. On this National Safety Day, we thought to make it very clear how a rider riding on a two-wheeler must maintain the safety of his/her own life and others on the road as well. 

Tips to Maintain Safety on Road 

The feeling of getting on your two-wheeler for a ride is a thrilling experience. It is exciting, yet safety should be in mind.  

Ride if you’re confident

Do not ride on a two-wheeler for the sake of having enjoyment. It is risking your life and others on the street too! Why take a risk when you aren’t confident about your driving skills. It is significant to know your bike well how to handle it on the street matters for a driver to drive safely.

A good helmet is not a terrible investment 

Often we have noticed bikers with poor helmets. Wearing a helmet for the sake won’t help you! Why do we need to wear a helmet? To protect our head if any injury or accident occurs on the road. Investing in a quality helmet with ISI certification is a must. Purchase a helmet that covers your full face and jaws. Ensure the helmet you are buying has a protective plastic shield to protect your delicate eyes while riding from dust, rain, and wind.

Often while driving we text or talk. If you are a rider and you’re reading this, do you think it’s right? Nothing is more important than your valuable life. We can avoid any urgent call with the quick text of ‘calling you later’. Or you can stop by near the roadside, finish your call, and then start your journey. 

It’s better not to even use earplugs and talk while you are driving your two-wheeler. This distracts you from auditory signals from the other drivers. Having your eyes and concentration on the street is very important. You must be sound and prompt with your activities on the street.

Maintain a decent Speed 

You may be an expert rider, but losing balance is normal. After all, you are a human being. Take the junction and turn slowly to keep the balance, especially in the monsoon season. You do not have to prove to anyone how excellent you drive. Be careful with your speed. Ensure a clear proceeding after every junction you pass.

Give time to Pedestrians to Safely cross the road

Often the brunt of poor traffic management is faced by pedestrians! If the drivers do not obey the red lights, then it leaves the commoners with another way to cross a road. This will eventually create a gap and accidents are likely to occur. Thus putting everything aside make sure that you are driving with safety measures & maintaining the traffic rules. This will keep you and the common people safe. 

Drinking and driving increases the risk of a crash

A dramatic increase in drink and drive is reportedly witnessed. Rules are strict in the cities after 10 pm. Never do this! Drink and drive not only risk your life but the lives of people around you. It isn’t cool! If you are drunk, prefer not to drive. This will save lives. National drink and driving laws are best practised in many countries. 

Figure out Routes in Advance

Avoid last-minute lane changes that are dangerous. You should know the turns well! If you are confused with the way, stop near the roadside and then figure out the routes properly. If you aren’t aware of the roadblocks or potholes, this can be dangerous for you. Go at a decent speed to be on the right track.
