The Government of Maharashtra has extended its early bird benefit scheme for electric vehicles in the state. Incentives on electric vehicles were scheduled to end on December 31 2021. But now, the government of Maharashtra is extending the date till March 31, 2022. The new timeline entitles electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers as well as electric cars such as the Nexon EV and Tigor EV. The discount applicable for two-wheeler and three-wheeler segments will be around INR 10,000 and three-wheelers will get discounts of around INR 30,000.
Early Bird Offers
Early bird offers will boost the sales of EVs in Maharashtra thanks to the Governments new initiative. Under this policy, electric vehicles will come with a maximum incentive of INR 5,000 per kWh. The maximum benefit is currently capped at INR 1.50 lakh. Reports regarding this initiative are that customers are more inclined towards getting the variant of the Nexon that qualifies for this scheme in the electric four-wheeler department. Therefore, the waiting period for the EV has been increased to around 6 months. Tata’s second Ziptron powered EV the Tigor EV also has a waiting period is around two months. Electric two-wheeler sales have also been on a rise thanks to the subsidies. The early bird incentives offered by the state government will also accelerate electric mobility in the country. The state government will also build robust charging infrastructure around the country. The EV makers are also coming up with massive plans to set up the charging infrastructure.
