A top player in the Indian two-wheeler industry, Hero MotoCorp is garnering the attention of Indian automobile enthusiasts again. Hero MotoCorp is all set to add two new models to its existing Xoom scooter lineup- the maxi-scooter-esque Xoom 160 and the sporty Xoom 125R.

These upcoming models were unveiled recently at India’s Hero World event. Honoring the legacy of the Xoom series, the Xoom 125R and Xoom 160 are ready to set new benchmarks in terms of technology, robust performance, and dynamic design. Boasting a sporty look, the Hero Xoom 125R is a new addition to 125cc scooters. The body of the Xoom 125R is larger and sportier than the Xoom 110. The sharp creases and cuts elevate its sporty appearance. A fully digital dash and sequential LED indicators add a premium touch to the scooter. Its digital dash supports Bluetooth connectivity, which enables turn-by-turn navigation, SMS, and call alerts for the convenience of its riders. 

Riding on 14-inch alloy wheels paired with MRF Zapper tyres, the 125R is a treat for adventure seekers. The Xoom 125R houses a single-cylinder, 124.6cc, air-cooled engine that generates a torque of 10.14Nm and a power of 9.5hp. A CVT unit will accompany this single-cylinder motor. Its suspension duties are handled by a rear monoshock and front telescopic forks.

In terms of braking, the scooter gets a drum brake at its back and a disc brake at its front. The scooter weighs around 120kg, making it slightly bulkier than its competitors. Some of the rivals of Xoom 125R are the TVS Ntorq 125, Suzuki Avenis, and Honda Dio 125. Hero Xoom 125R is more likely to be priced between Rs. 80,000 to 90,000.

The design of the Hero Xoom 160 showcases a unique blend of ADV styling elements and a maxi-scooter. One of the first adventure-friendly maxi-scooters in India, the Xoom 160 gets a liquid-cooled engine. Also, it is the first scooter from Hero to feature a liquid-cooled engine. 

The Xoom 160 houses a 156cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that generates a torque of 13.7Nm @6500rpm and a power of 14hp @8000rpm. Featuring remote seat opening, keyless ignition, and i3s stop-start technology, the maxi-scooter takes user experience and convenience a notch up. 

Other notable features include a generous under-seat storage enabled with a remote boot opening, a large windscreen, a dual chamber LED headlight, and split LED tail lights. It rides on MRF Kurve block-pattern tyres and 14-inch wheels. The scooter’s suspension setup includes twin rear shock absorbers and telescopic forks. The braking duties are handled by disc brakes paired with ABS at both ends. It’s expected to come at a price of Rs. 1.45 lakh. Some of its major competitors are the Aprilia SXR160 and the Yamaha Aerox 155.
