Kawasaki is planning to launch the retro-styled Z650RS in the Indian market. The brand has commenced roadtesting the Z650RS on public roads in India, which suggests that the bike will make its market debut soon. Also, the Kawasaki Z650RS will help the brand expand its portfolio of the 650cc middleweight line-up that includes the Z650, Ninja 650, Versys 650 and Vulcan S. The segment is quite popular in the Indian market, and the brand plans to target the retro and neo-retro motorcycle aficionados.
Kawasaki Z650RS – Design and Features
The Kawasaki Z650RS comes with a rounded headlamp, an elongated fuel tank, artillery shell-style instruments cluster and a flat bench seat. The bike also comes with a sleek tail section with a retro semi-oval taillamp. The Z650RS in the international market comes with three colour options – Metallic Spark Black, Candy Emerald Green and Metallic Moondust Gray / Ebony. The brand also offers the motorcycle with thin multi-spoke alloy wheels that look like spoke-wire rims from the side. According to Kawasaki, the design draws inspiration from the iconic Z650-B1 from the year 1977. The motorcycle also comes with a blacked-out engine and an underbelly exhaust.
Kawasaki Z650RS – Technical Specifications
Powering the Kawasaki Z650RS is the brand’s venerable 649cc parallel-twin engine with liquid cooling. The engine also does duty on the Z650, Ninja 650, Vulcan S and the Versys 650 in various markets worldwide. The engine on the Z650RS in Europe produces 68 PS of power and 64 Nm of torque. The motorcycle rides on a tubular trellis type construction frame. The chassis comes with 41mm conventional forks on the front and horizontal link rear suspension adjustable for pre-load. The motorcycle also comes with 300mm rounded discs on the front instead of petal discs to reiterate its retro status.

Kawasaki is likely to price the Z650RS between the INR 6.50 lakh to INR 7 lakh ex-showroom mark.
