Japanese car and motorcycle manufacturer, Honda has announced that the company has introduced the new Honda Power Pack Energy India Private Limited subsidiary as a battery sharing service. The company is offering its battery-sharing service for small mobility, the company aims to accelerate the penetration of electric vehicles. According to Honda, the new battery sharing service will solve three issues that plague the current-gen electric vehicles. The brand aims for a solution to problems such as limited range, long charging times, and the high cost of batteries.
Honda Mobile Power Pack e: Service
In its initial stage, Honda Power Pack Energy India has planned to start the battery sharing service for its electric auto-rickshaws in 2022. Honda has revealed that the brand will begin its battery-sharing service in Bengaluru and Karnataka during the first half of 2022. The brand will also be expanding its operations to other Indian cities in a phased manner.
Customers will be able to get the battery-sharing services from the nearest battery-swapping station located in the city. The “Honda Mobile Power Pack e” service allows customers to swap their portable empty batteries for fully-charged battery packs. The battery swapping service will reduce the range anxiety of the customers and also help in faster turnaround times.
Future Of Electrified Mobility
Honda has revealed that the brand will be offering the battery sharing service by working closely with multiple OEMs and integrating their batteries. Additionally, the company also aims to expand its applications and service areas as it aims to offer enhanced service convenience.
Honda and its subsidiary company will be manufacturing the “Mobile Power Pack e:” battery swapping facility in India. The brand will be utilizing the made in India batteries accelerating the electrification in the mobility sector, further contributing to carbon neutrality in India.
