Hero MotoCorp has revealed that the brand will be launching a new EV in March 2022. The company will be introducing sustainable mobility solutions for the customer as part of the brand’s “Be the Future of Mobility” vision. Part of the program is the acceleration of electric vehicle adoption in the Indian market. Hero MotoCorp has decided to expedite the production of EVs to enhance its existing global portfolio. The company announced that the manufacturing of its EV project is in the advanced stages at its plant in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh.
The production plant is known as the ‘Garden Factory’, as the plant utilizes eco-friendly and sustainable manufacturing practices to create an integrated ecosystem for manufacturing. This plant will have facilities for manufacturing and testing of battery packs, Vehicle Assembly, and Vehicle End of Line Testing (EOL).
2022 Hero MotoCorp e-scooter – What Do We Know?
Hero MotoCorp revealed a new scooter in August 2021, giving us just a glimpse of the upcoming e-scooter. The e-scooter features an aerodynamic front fascia and is likely to come with LED headlamps and taillamps. The scooter features a telescopic front suspension, a large footboard, an ergonomic seat, under-seat storage, and upright handlebars. The new e-scooter is likely to come with connected technology and the latest generation electronic features. Hero MotoCorp could be planning to borrow the powertrain and electronics suite from Ather where the brand has around 35% stakes.
Hero MotoCorp’s new e-scooter could come with a 6KW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor. The motor is likely to draw power from a 2.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The power unit borrowed from the Ather 450X, produces 26 Nm of instant torque. However, Hero MotoCorp has not revealed if the brand will use the same motor for its electric scooter.
The company also revealed its highlights for July-September 2021. These include Product Launches, Global Operations, Milestones and Sales Milestone. In addition to this, Hero MotoCorp also conducted CSR initiatives. These include – Ride for Real Heroes as well as Motorsport events and expansion of the ‘Harley-Davidson’ brand.
