Hero Electric has partnered with a Delhi based startup, Massive Mobility, that offers end-to-end EV charging solutions. Together the brand’s will expand the electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the country. Hero Electric aim to install 10,000 electric vehicle charging stations that will cater to all the 2-wheelers and three-wheelers in the country. The demand for a robust and vast charging infrastructure is high in the country and is parallel with the demand for electric vehicles. Other OEMs have also joined the chase to ramp up the charging infrastructure in the country. With a robust charging ecosystem in place, customers will also get the encouragement to adopt electric vehicles. Currently, one of the main reasons for slow EV adoption is range anxiety and lack of charging stations. Plenty of charging stations will promote customers adopting EVs to part their ways with ICE vehicles, thus going completely green.
Need of the Hour
Hero Electric conducted a survey, which recorded the consumer’s behaviour while utilizing EV charging stations. According to this survey, the customers are looking out for smart chargers. Chargers which can be easily mapped and found using their smartphones. Furthermore, customers also present the demand for 16 Amp sockets and extended charging cords at charging stations. Massive Mobility targets some of these demands, such as mapping out the charging stations via the Massive Mobility app. The brand also offers seamless payment with a UPI framework.
Hero Electric Future
Currently, there are 1,650 charging stations in the country. The brand also revealed that under the partnership, the charging station count will go up to 20,000 by 2022. Having a robust charging ecosystem will also help Hero Electric boost sales of its scooter range. Hero Electric currently has 700 sales and service outlets across the country. The brand will also expand the sales and service point in India, alongside the electric charging stations.
