Ducati will begin supplying the electric motorcycles for MotoE from the 2023 season. The brand revealed that the agreement will last till 2026, which is four editions of the MotoE World Cup. Ducati during a joint press conference in the press room of the Misano World Circuit ‘Marco Simoncelli’ announced the agreement.
Bringing Home Racing Technology
Ducati has been using racing sport as a laboratory for its technologies and solutions. The company has been transforming the concept of road motorcycles, since the Ducati 851. Since then, Ducati has introduced many innovative features, this also includes the two-cylinder water-cooled engine. The brand in the year 1986 introduced the futuristic electronic fuel injection technology. Also, the new twin-shaft, four-valve heads, was derived from the Ducati 748 IE bike. The motorcycle made its debut in endurance races at Le Castellet in 1986.
The learnings from the MotoE will in the future trickle down to Ducati’s road-going vehicles. This means Ducati will also build a road-going electric motorcycle in the near future. Ducati will utilise the knowledge from electric motorsport for all its upcoming motorcycles. This will help Ducati take a leap into the green mobility future. The brand has also in the past transferred technology from the MotoGP and Superbike World Championships.
The brand made the announcement on the eve of the Made in Italy and Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, the third last round of the 2021 MotoGP World Championship.
