At the 6th Episode of Ducati World Première 2022, Italian manufacturer Ducati unveiled the new DesertX. Until now we had only seen the DesertX in the concept study form. Now the much-awaited adventure motorcycle is ready for production. However, the brand has not revealed the price of the motorcycle yet. According to Ducati, DesertX is based on three fundamental principles – Exploration, Fun and Performance.
Ducati DesertX – Design Highlights
The Ducati DesertX draws its design inspiration from the Paris-Dakar bikes of the 1980s and 1990s. The brand offers twin rounded headlamps and peripheral LED DRLs. The DesertX features a tall windscreen that protects the rider from wind and weather. The bike also comes with a large 21-litre fuel tank offering an extended range. In addition to this, off-road enduro enthusiasts can also attach an additional 8-litre rear fuel tank for extending the range by more than 150 km. Ducati also offers the DesertX with ergonomically designed seats on the front and rear and an upright handlebar. The motorcycle comes with a sleek taillamp and a horseshoe LED lamp with an upswept high-mount exhaust.
Ducati DesertX – Technical Specifications
Powering the DesertX is a 937cc Testastretta 11-degree L-twin cylinder liquid-cooled engine. The engine features a Desmodromic valvetrain and produces 110 Hp of power and 92 Nm of torque. The engine on the DesertX is also 1.7 kgs lighter in weight than on other models using the 937cc Testastretta. The DesertX also comes with a high service interval with an oil change every 15,000 km, and the valve clearance check is every 30,000 km.
The motorcycle rides on a fully adjustable 46mm KYB front fork suspension and a fully adjustable monoshock on the rear. Ducati offers 21-inch cross-spoke rims on the front and 18-inch cross-spoke rims on the rear shod in Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres. The bike comes with 230mm front and 220mm rear suspension travel, as well as 250mm of ground clearance along with 875mm of saddle height.
Ducati DesertX – Electronic Features
The Ducati DesertX features Full LED lighting with two bi-function poly ellipsoidal modules and Ducati Brake Light function. The DesertX also gets a high-resolution 5-inch colour TFT display in a vertical orientation. The motorcycle features Traction Control, Wheelie Control, Engine Brake Control, Quickshifter up & down and Cruise Control Cornering ABS.
Ducati will soon announce the pricing of DesertX in the international market. The brand is also likely to bring the bike to India owing to the demand in the adventure motorcycling segment in our country.
