Yamaha recently launched the new Yamaha YZF-R7 in the international market. The motorcycle replaces the much-popular Yamaha YZF-R6, which was quite an upsetting moment for team blue’s hardcore enthusiasts. Hardcore riders were also disappointed by the brand move to discontinue the R6 and replacing the bike with the much quirky-looking R7. But because the R7 is based on the much-friendlier MT-07 underpinnings, more people will be encouraged to ride the motorcycle.
However, Yamaha also doesn’t want to let go of the track-focused audience and therefore the brand has revealed a fully-spec racing kit for the Yamaha R7. The Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing (GYTR) kit is a specially curated pack of parts enhancing the motorcycle’s performance. GYTR is a bolt-on kit available for the Yamaha R7. The kit turns the production version motorcycle into a track attack bike. The GYTR kit is available online on Yamaha’s official website.
Yamaha R7 GYTR Kit – Contents
The Yamaha GYTR Kit comes with an exhaust system from Akrapovic that not only helps reduce the weight of the motorcycle but also adds power. The exhaust also complements the motorcycles design and race theme. The motorcycle also gets a fibreglass-reinforced plastic fairing that not only helps eliminate the unwanted bits for the track which helps in considerably reducing the weight of the machine.
The FRP race body also provides aerodynamic and aesthetic appeal to the Yamaha R7. The GYTR kit also includes clips-on and rear-set footpegs for the Yamaha R7 giving the rider an extra edge on the race track. Yamaha is also offering high-performance suspension components such as a fully adjustable unit from Ohlins, replacing the road-biased suspension. The kit also features high-specification braking components including a high-performance steel braided brake line.
Yamaha R7 – Technical Specifications
Powering the Yamaha R7 is a 689cc CP2 series twin-cylinder engine with liquid cooling. The Yamaha’s Crossplane Concept crankshaft with a 270-degree firing helps produce 73.4 Hp of power and 67 Nm of torque. The Euro5 compliant engine also comes with a restricted 35 kW power output for A2 licence holders in Europe. The motor comes with a 6-speed gearbox and an assist & slipper clutch preventing rear-wheel lock-up during aggressive downshifts.
