KTM could be planning to launch a new electric motorcycle dubbed E-Duke. The brand could also share the KTM E-Duke’s powertrain with the Husqvarna E-Pilen. KTM has not revealed any official details of the E-Duke. But, reports confirm that the electric motorcycle is likely to feature a sharp design language which could likely be similar to the petrol-powered counterparts.
KTM E-Duke – Highlights
The KTM E-Duke is likely to be a naked streetfighter. The brand is likely to employ the same design language as other Duke motorcycles. The bike could come with a sharp headlamp and a sleek tail section. Also, the E-Duke is likely to come with a high-tail low-nose design language and feature a muscular tank area. The E-Duke is also likely to come with a battery packaged where conventionally an ICE powertrain is located. Also, the electric motor could be pivot-mounted and feature a belt-type final drive.
The KTM E-Duke is likely to share its powertrain with the Husqvarna E-Pilen. The E-Pilen which was revealed in the past comes with a 10kW power unit and 5.5 kWh battery that returns a range of more than 100 km on a single charge. The KTM E-Duke could also get upside-down front suspension, a monoshock on the rear and disc brakes for stopping power.
Electric Motorcycles in India
If KTM launches the E-Duke in India, the motorcycle will compete with the Revolt RV400 and Tork Kratos R. The e-motorcycle will also compete with the Ultraviolette F77 electric motorcycle. To put things into perspective, the Tork Kratos R currently offers a battery capacity of 4 kWh. With a 5.5 kWh battery pack, the E-Duke will lead the segment in India.
