Honda has announced that the brand is recalling the CBR1000RR-R SP Fireblade superbike in the US market. According to Honda, a faulty cooler pipe is a reason for the recall. A total of 331 units could be under the recall. The brand has sold these bikes from April 2020 to October 2021, which makes it a 100% recall for the aforementioned units. The faulty cooler pipe in question leads to overheating, melting, and an eventual rupture. This may lead to the leaking of oil.
The oil leak obviously poses a serious safety hazard. In contact with the exhaust pipes or rear tyres, may lead to an accident. The first incident was reported in Japan, with other reports following in from Europe and America. Honda has announced that the brand will be replacing the oil cooler pipes on the affected units of the CBR1000RR-R SP Fireblade. In addition to this, the company also plans to install a heat guard between the bike’s exhaust pipe and the oil cooler pipe.
