Honda Shine Finds 1 Crore Homes in India

Japanese motorcycle manufacturer, Honda has revealed that the brand’s popular commuter motorcycle, the Honda Shine has become the choice of over 1 Crore customers in the Indian market. Honda also revealed that the Shine is the first 125cc motorcycle to achieve this feat. Honda Shine also has over 50 per cent market share, which is quite a remarkable figure. According to SIAM Honda Shine’s sales figure also grew by nearly 29 per cent when compared to last year.

The Honda Shine has been a top seller ever since the motorcycle first entered the Indian market back in 2006. The Shine is the motorcycle that revolutionized the 125cc motorcycle segment. In the commuter segment, the 125cc is the sweet spot between entry-level 100cc and the more premium 150cc. In the segment, motorcycles are able to maintain a balance between great fuel efficiency and performance. Therefore, the Honda Shine proves to be the perfect choice for customers looking for an all-rounder daily commuter.

Journey Of Honda Shine Over The Period Of Years

Honda introduced the Shine commuter motorcycle back in 2006. At the time if its debut, the Honda Shine came equipped with the unique Optimax technology. By 2008, the Honda Shine motorcycle was already the apex in the 125cc segment. In just 54 months after its launch, Shine gained the trust of 10 lakh customers in 2010. In 2013, one of every three motorcycles sold in the 125cc was a Honda Shine. In 2014, Honda Shine crossed the 33 per cent market share in the 125cc segment and with over 30 lakh units sold, Shine became Honda’s bread and butter.

In 2015, the motorcycle came with the revolutionary CBS(Combi Braking System) technology. In 2017 the Honda Shine became the first-ever 125cc motorcycle to reach the 50 lakh unit sales milestone. In 2018, the Honda Shine breached the 70 lakh unit sales mark. In the same year every second motorcycle sold in the 125cc segment was a Honda CB Shine. Honda CB Shine also became Honda 2Wheeler India’s first-ever BS6 ready motorcycle and despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the Honda Shine clinched the 90 lakh sales figure in 2020.
