On this festival of Eid, CredR takes immense joy in wishing you and your family a hearty EID MUBARAK. On this auspicious day read more on what the story of Eid is really about.
“Eid Al-Adha” is observed on the 10th day of the month of Dhu al-Hijjah in the islamic calendar. According to the Holy Book Quran, Prophet Ibrahim who was a staunch believer of Allah was deeply worried as he did not have an offspring on his own. Ibrahim who was in his 90’s prayed to Allah everyday, asking the almighty to bless him with a child. In respect to his constant faith and trust in Allah, blessed him with a son who was then named Ismail. Ibrahim had no limit of joy when he was blessed with a child to take care. Ibrahim showered all his love on Ismail and led a blessed life.
Allah one day decided to question the faith of prophet Ibrahim by commanding him to sacrifice his only son Ismail’s life. Ibrahim who loved his only son who was born after so many years never thought for a second but chose to sacrifice Ismail no questions asked. According to Ibrahim nobody not his own life mattered before the faith of Allah. So by following the words of Allah, Ibrahim got ready to sacrifice his only son Ismail. Allah, who was moved by the faith Ibrahim despite what was at stake, blessed Ibrahim with a sword that did not cut Ismail into two halves. In exchange to let Ismail live, Ibrahim sacrificed a goat thanking Allah for the abundant blessing.
To remember the great sacrifice by Ibrahim to show his faith in Allah, muslim around the world celeberate Eid Al-Adha or Bakrid. Eid Al-Adha is also known as a sacrifice feast and is celebrated by the union of the entire family and friends. Post the special prayer at the mosque, a goat is prepared to be sacrificed on Eid Al-Adha. The goat meat is then divided into three parts and one part is kept for the family and the remaining two will be given to friends and the needy. This festival of sacrifice teaches us the importance of trust, faith and sacrifice in lord almighty. Eid Mubarak!
