Ducati has revealed that the Italian brand has started testing its first MotoE bike at the Misano World Circuit. The company recently made an agreement with Dorna Sports whereby the Ducati announced the MotoE bike. This agreement took place in October 2021. The Italian motorcycle manufacturer also revealed that it will supply e-bikes for the FIM Enel MotoE World Cup in the 2023 season. The new MotoE bike will compete in the MotoGP World Championship’s electric class.
Development & Testing
The brand has codenamed the MotoE bike “V21L”. Ducati Corse will produce the electric motorcycle with the help of its research and development team of engineers. The brand reveals that Roberto Cane, the eMobility Director has overseen the project and led the development and production process of the MotoE bike. Also, professional test rider, Michele Pirro has evaluated the technical characteristics and the potential of Ducati’s first electric motorcycle.
Ducati also revealed that the brand had restricted the power output of the e-bike to 70% during the testing at Misano. The company had to tackle the size, weight, and range of the bike’s batteries during development. Now the brand will be pushing forward to develop and produce high-performance electric motorcycles for the FIM Enel Moto World Cup participants.
Ducati is also focused on lowering the weight of the new e-bike. This will enhance power delivery and the overall performance of the new bike. In addition to this, Ducati will also be focusing on developing an advanced cooling system. This will help offer consistent power delivery during a race and improved thermodynamic safety. The brand will employ its learning and experiences from developing the e-bike for the World Cup. This will lead to the creation of a sporty, lightweight, and performance-packed EV for road use
