Simple Energy has announced that the electric mobility brand plans to build the world’s largest electric two-wheeler factory. The brand has revealed that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu Government, and plans to invest INR 2500 crores. The company announced that it will construct the new state-of-the-art, two-wheeler production plant in the city of Dharmapuri.
Simple Energy Development Plans
Simple Energy revealed that during the Phase 1 of the development, the brand will develop 2 lakh sq. ft of space. The first electric two-wheeler manufacturing plant will have an overall production capacity of 1 million e-scooters per year. Furthermore, this new factory will begin operations as early as 2022. To redefine electric mobility in India the brand will start production of the ‘Simple One’ e-scooter at this factory. The OEM will also start deliveries for the e-scooter from the new factory.
In addition to this, the brand will make an initial investment of INR 1000 crores to construct its 2nd plant. In Phase 2, the second factory will use 600 acres of land and commence operations by 2023. The second plant intends to build an EV ecosystem in the state of Tamil Nadu along with a future-ready R&D centre. The brand boasts that the 2nd plant will feature a world-class testing facility and a vendor park.
Simple Energy also aims to create more than 12,000 direct and indirect jobs through the new plant. The brand will also reduce the dependency on imports and increase its focus on the localization of parts.
Simple One – Overview
Powering the Simple One electric scooter is a mid-mounted electric motor. The motor draws power from a 4.8 kWh lithium-ion battery helping it to achieve 0-40 kmph time in just 2.95 seconds. The e-scooter comes with four riding modes Eco, Ride, Dash, and Sonic. Simple Energy offers two battery packs, wherein one of them is removable. Combined the battery packs can provide a riding range of 203 Km on a single charge.
