Suzuki has unveiled the updated 2022 Katana, a litre-class motorcycle at the EICMA 2021 show in Milan. The new 2022 Suzuki Katana now features updates similar to the GSX-S1000 motorcycle. The GSX-S1000 recently received a complete refresh. Suzuki has improved Katana’s overall riding performance and features, thanks to several styling and functional updates.
2022 Suzuki Katana – Design Highlights
Suzuki is using the Katana nameplate for its motorcycle drawing inspiration from the famed Japanese sword. The 2022 Suzuki Katana comes with craftsmanship details introducing a “Premium Chic” colour concept. Suzuki offers the new Katana with two colour options – Metallic Matte Stellar Blue and Solid Iron Grey. The new Katana also features gold-coloured front forks. Suzuki has also implemented colour-coordinated wheels for the new Katana. Additionally, the bike now features grey-coloured rear suspension coils and a darker tone on the seat.
2022 Suzuki Katana – Technical Specifications
Powering the Suzuki Katana is a 999cc, 4-stroke, 4-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. The Euro5 compliant motor produces 152 PS of power. The new motor now comes with newly revised valve springs, a new clutch, a new camshaft, an updated airbox, and a reworked exhaust.
The Katana also comes with three engine map modes. The car comes with ‘A’ mode that enables the bike to provide maximum power and the sportiest setting. The engine’s ‘B’ mode provides the perfect balance of power and handling. The brand also provides the softest engine response in ‘C’ mode.
The engine comes paired to a 6-speed transmission which now features a bi-directional quickshifter. The Suzuki Katana retains the alloy beam chassis frame from the 2020 Katana along with a 12-litre fuel tank. The bike comes with fully adjustable, upside down KYB front forks with a monoshock rear suspension. Braking performance comes from dual front disc brakes with Brembo callipers on the front and a single rear brake disc. Suzuki also offers the 2022 Katana with 17-inch, 6-spoke alloy wheels along with a traction control system with five modes.
