Following the debut of Yamaha MT-10 earlier this month, team Blue has now launched a higher-spec SP trim on the MT-10 at the EICMA in Milan. The new motorcycle comes with feature upgrades compared to the regular Yamaha MT-10. The new upgrades are not only cosmetic but also mechanical, making the new MT-10 SP more powerful and desirable. The updates include upgraded brakes, reduced weight, a new TFT instruments cluster and refreshed styling. In addition to this, the MT-10 SP spec also comes with the latest-generation semi-active suspension system from Ohlins. This makes the MT-10 SP the first motorcycle to get the new semi-active setup in the segment.
Yamaha MT-10 SP – Features
In its standard form, the Yamaha MT-10 comes with a KYB suspension setup. The SP however offers an advanced Ohlins setup with semi-active functions. This makes the motorcycle a lot more advanced than the standard. This new Ohlins setup offers loads of adjustment settings accessible via the motorcycle’s dashboard. The new suspension system offers a total of three semi-active modes – A-1, A-2 and A-3. The brand also offers manual adjustment setups – M-1, M-2 and M-3 on the new MT-10 SP. The semi-active suspension system can offer modes that can set the rebound and compression damping while riding. The suspension tweaks itself according to the road condition and the riding style. Yamaha reveals that the A1 is the most sporty setting. On the other hand, the manual setting gives complete freedom to the rider for electronically adjusting the compression and rebound of the suspension.
Furthermore, the new Yamaha MT-10 SP also gets a new three-piece belly pan which helps in protecting the oil cooler. Yamaha has also upgraded the brakes on the new SP trim. While the standard already gets the new radial brake master cylinder, the SP spec also features steel braided hoses. However, the brand has not made any changes to the engine. The power unit is the same as the one offered with the standard spec. The Yamaha MT-10 comes with a CP4 liquid-cooled inline-four-cylinder 998cc unit. The engine produces 64 Bhp of power and 112 Nm of torque.
Yamaha MT-10 SP India Launch
Yamaha could launch the MT-10 in the Indian market in its standard trim by mid-2022. However, it is unlikely that the MT-10 SP will make it to Indian streets any time soon.
