Royal Enfield has commenced operations on the new Local Assembly Unit and its CKD facility in Thailand. The brand claims to be one of the oldest global leaders in the 250cc-750cc mid-size motorcycle segment and set up operations in partnership with GPX. Royal Enfield revealed that the new local assembly and CKD unit will help boost business significantly. The brand will be able to expand its footprint especially in one of the world’s largest automotive manufacturing hubs, South East Asia. The new CKD unit and assembly plant also further reiterates Royal Enfield‘s commitment towards the South-East Asia and Asia-Pacific regions.
Royal Enfield’s Operations in the International Market
Royal Enfield now has three CKD units, this includes the new unit in Thailand and two other international units including Argentina and Columbia in Latin America. In addition to this, Royal Enfield also has three state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities. These are located in the city of Chennai in India. The new local assembly unit in Thailand is situated at Gateway City Industrial Estate, Moo 7 Huasamrong, Plaengyao Chachoengsao. The new unit will not only cater to Thai customers but also act as a distribution hub for other South-East Asian countries.
The distribution hub will cater to countries such as Indonesia, Vietnam, etc. This will provide significant advantages and growth opportunities for the company. Royal Enfield will commence local assemblies of its models at the start of December, from the new Thailand facility. The company will produce the Royal Enfield Himalayan, Interceptor 650, and Continental GT 650 models at the new Thai facility.
Royal Enfield APAC Region
Royal Enfield has also made significant progress in the APAC region. The company boasts that it is now amongst the top five players in the premium, mid-size motorcycle segment. These markets include Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea. The new local assembly unit will yield an increased Asia Pacific consumer base and improve Thailand’s retail network.
