Indian government-owned oil and gas corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has announced its plans for the EV future. BPCL revealed that it will be installing electric vehicle charging stations in the coming years. The EV charging stations will be known as ‘Energy Stations’ and BPCL will install them at their current fuel pumps. The brand revealed that BPCL will install the charging stations at their 7,000 fuel stations in the country. This will rapidly accelerate the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem in the country.
In total BPCL aims to build a charging network at its 19,000+ fuel stations across India. The new EV charging infrastructure will also act as a unique business opportunity safeguarding BPCL when electric charging displaces auto fuels in the future. The charging ecosystem in the country is currently under rapid development, thanks to the increased awareness of electric vehicles as well as the sharp rise in fuel costs in the country.

New Charging Infrastructure
The new charging infrastructure in the country will also further encourage citizens to adopt electric vehicles in India. The company will also reap the benefits as newer customers turn towards EV ownership with its new charging infrastructure. BPCL is India’s 2nd largest oil marketing company (OMC). The oil company is renowned for its network of fuel stations. Thus BPCL will be able to deploy EV charging facilities in a shorter time span than other players. This also offers BPCL an advantage as other competitors are yet to build their own charging infrastructure.
