Piaggio’s subsidiary Aprilia has launched the much anticipated middle-weight motorcycle in the Indian market, the Aprilia RS660. The new Aprilia RS660 sportbike comes with the brand latest design language, a new Euro-5 compliant engine and an extensive electronics package. Aprilia has announced that the RS660 will come to Indian soil via the Completely Built-Up Unit (CBU) route. The motorcycle will therefore carry a price tag of INR 13.39 lakh ex-showroom. The brand also announced that bookings for the bike are now open at all Aprilia dealerships in India. Aprilia offers the scooter in three colour options – Apex Black, Acid Gold, and Lava Red.
Aprilia RS660 – Features & Electronics
The Aprilia RS660 comes with Aprilia Performance Ride Control (APRC). The bike also comes with a six-axis inertial measuring unit, integrating acceleration sensors and gyroscopes. This allows the motorcycle to understand the engine’s status in relation to the road in real-time. It also allows the bike to provide instant inputs to the motor and improve performance. The APRC includes features such as Aprilia Engine Map, Aprilia Cruise Control and Aprilia Quick Shift. The bike also gets Aprilia Traction Control, Aprilia Wheelie Control and a MultiMap Cornering ABS Function with 3-levels of adjustment for safety. The bike also comes with hallmark triple LED headlamps and LED DRLs. The motorcycle also gets an aerodynamic body and aeroducts that help channel air away from the engine. The bike also features a crouching stance with a low nose and high tail.
Aprilia RS660 – Technical Specifications
Powering the Aprilia RS660 is a 659cc forward-facing parallel-twin-cylinder engine with liquid cooling. The BS6 compliant motor comes with an electronic fuel injection system and an advanced thermodynamics system. The motor produces 100 Hp of power and 67 Nm of torque. The motorcycle also comes with a 6-speed gearbox. The Aprilia RS660 rides on a 41mm upside-down front fork suspension. The bike also gets a monoshock on the rear-mounted to an asymmetrical aluminium swingarm. Stopping power comes from 320mm twin front disc brakes and 220mm rear brakes.
